ENTERPRISE, AL – This year, to celebrate National Doctor’s Day, Medical Center Enterprise found a unique way to thank the providers who serve our community and hospitals. In lieu of gifts, Medical Center Enterprise donated money to two local charities, Wiregrass Emergency Pregnancy Services and FaithMed Clinic.
“We are incredibly honored to celebrate our medical providers who serve our community,” said Joey Hester, CEO of Medical Center Enterprise. “We are fortunate to have them and want to acknowledge their contributions, sacrifices, skills and unwavering care to the thousands of lives we at Medical Center Enterprise touch each year.”
WEPS (Wiregrass Emergency Pregnancy Services) received a donation of $1,000. WEPS is an active, pro-life pregnancy center offering assistance to young girls and women facing an unplanned pregnancy.
FaithMed Clinic also received a donation of $1,000. FaithMed is a free clinic who offers medical care to designated neighborhoods within our city who either cannot afford it or do not qualify for medical insurance.
Doctors’ Day was first observed in Winder, Georgia. Started by Eudora Brown Almond, the wife of a prominent Georgian doctor, the day was meant to recognize and honor doctors for their service. She decided the best way to do that was to mail greeting cards to all the doctors she knew and to place flowers on the graves of deceased doctors. She used red carnations- a flower still used to this day for National Doctors’ Day celebrations. Each year, on March 30, we celebrate National Doctors’ Day to honor the professionals for their dedication and contributions to community and society. Medical Center Enterprise is sincerely grateful to doctors for all that they do.
